4 Post-Secondary Options Skilled/Technical Pathway (1 to 2 year course of study) Trade/Technical School Military Regional Occupation Program (ROP) Community College * Certificate * Associate of Arts Degree (AA)

5 Post Secondary Options Professional Pathway Community college (2 years) – transfer to four-year university to complete last two years Four-year colleges and universities Military Academies

6 College and University Options Most Competitive: Stanford, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, UCB, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Northwestern, MIT, Cal Tech, Claremont Colleges, Military Academies, etc. Top 10% of class Weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher Enrolled in 4 – 5 honors courses per year starting as a sophomore SAT’s of 2000 and above Less than 20% admitted

7 College and University Options Highly Competitive: all other UC’s, USC, Cal Poly SLO, SDSU, Pepperdine, Chapman, University of Arizona, etc. Top 10 – 20% of your class Weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher Enrolled in 2 to 5 honors courses per year starting as a sophomore SAT scores of 1800 and above Less than 40% admitted

8 College and University Options Competitive: all other Cal State schools including: Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, ASU, Loyola Marymount, BYU, University of Redlands, etc. Top 50% of class Weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher SAT scores of 1500 and above

9 College and University Options Less Competitive: Azusa Pacific, Biola, Concordia, Point Loma, University of La Verne, out-of-state public universities, etc. Open to most students who meet minimum college entrance requirements

10 College and University Options Non-Competitive: Community colleges and most Trade/Tech schools. Open to all high school graduates or 18 year-old students

11 Esperanza Graduation Requirements 4 years Language Arts 2 years Math including Alg. 1A AND 1B OR Alg. 1 3 years Social Science 2 year Science (1 year physical, 1 year life) 1 year of EITHER Fine Art or Foreign Language 1 year Health/Careers 2 years Physical Education 80 elective credits 40 hours Community Service California High School Exit Exam

12 Cal State and UC Requirements 4 years Language Arts 3 years Math (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2) 2 years Social Science 2 years Laboratory Science (Biology, Chemistry) 2 years same Foreign Language 1 year Fine Art 1 year College Prep elective College Entrance Tests No D’s accepted
