2 Math and Science Invented algebra Borrowed the symbols 0-9 from Hindu scholars in India Perfected the Greek astrolabe and used it to measure the size and distance around the earth (realized the earth is round) Founders of chemistry Al-Razi developed a system for categorizing substances as animal, mineral, or vegetable Al-Razi wrote books for doctors that helped them to identify diseases Arab doctors were the first to discover that the blood circulates Persian doctor, Ibn Sina, showed how diseases spread
