1 Welcome Back! 3 rd quarter has gotten off to a great start! It was so wonderful to have students come back refreshed, energized, and ready to be at school again! We started our new math curriculum this week and so far the students seem to love it. It is very user- friendly and has a lot of great resources. This week we have continued our study of fractions from 2 nd quarter. We have looked at parts of a set, parts of a whole, equivalent fractions, and fractions on a number line. Next week we will work on comparing fractions as well as working on word problems. There will be a test on fractions next Thursday. Please review all of the homework sheets and class work sheets that have been sent home, as well as the quiz that students took today to help them review for the test. In social studies, we have been studying the history of North Carolina, and students have loved comparing life from colonial days to how we live now! I’m so glad everyone made it back safe and sound from their break. This quarter in reading we are going to spend a lot of time learning all about biographies. Students will also get the opportunity to chose a famous figure from history and write their own biography. Next week will be spent deciding on a person and writing a proposal on why this person would be a good choice and what impact they have made on our history.
