4 Widening Participation Strategic Plan Key Priorities Raising Awareness /Overcome barriers to Skills for Life provision  Hub staff to visit centres  Train and support operational staff  Greater product awareness  Increase adult learner support / Research on provision for supporting development of ‘Skills for Life’ tutors  Develop end of course assignments and exercises Increase Community Links-  Develop areas of potential growth – Increase activity with key community groups by prioritised activity (Current/ Probable/ Possible development activities) Prison and Probation Service Schools – Staff / Parents Dare Care and Care Sector Voluntary Organisations NHS Union Reps Travellers Job Centre Plus Foyers / UK Online Centres / Housing Action Groups I A G Provision Adult Community Colleges Improve Access to learndirect  Further research into working with people with disabilities – sharing good practice  Audit of provision  Identification of specialist equipment within the Hub

5 Workforce Development Strategic Plan Key Priorities Provide Business Focused Support to Targeted Learning Centres-  Set up Hub based ‘Business to Business’ forum  Develop local business marketing materials  Create a culture of inter-centre competition Increase SME/ Community Links-  Develop areas of potential growth – Increase activity with key community groups by prioritised activity - Schools – Staff / Parents - Day Care and Care Sector- NHS - Housing Associations Raising Awareness of Learndirect in the Business Community  Build Promotional Business Local Case Studies  Continue to attend Business Events- Business Awards, Business Exhibitions, County & District Shows  Link local promotions to National Campaigns  Investigate local Sponsorship opportunities & innovative ways of promoting learndirect  Link with local business agency business advisors Increase levels of other funding opportunities  Continue to develop other funding steams including Employer Training Pilots, ESF projects etc. Developing Future Partnerships  Target Sectors- Local Ports, Union Reps, Councils (County & Districts), Inland revenue Increase Hub Commercial Activity  Increase links with targeted community & business groups Via VLC

7 Hub Strategic Plans The way Forward Centres Input is Vital Plan is not there to duplicate effort All centres will be expected to play a role The plan relies on ‘ two way process ’
