7 What was Camelot?  Camelot was the great castle of King Arthur. Camelot was the seat of power in Britain, where inside a council was established. Arthur and his knights who presided over the council were called Knights of the Round Table. Camelot symbolized the Golden Age of Chivalry.

14 Theme  Write a one sentence summary summarizing the theme within “The Lady of Shalott.”  How is this like“I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” and “The Peace of Wild Things?”  How is it different?

15 Other Symbolism  The island – isolation and loneliness “remote Shalott” (81).  The mirror – isolation The lady sees the world, but she cannot interact with it. “Shadows of the world appear” (48).

16 Extended Metaphor The term extended metaphor refers to a comparison between two unlike things that continues throughout a series of sentences in a paragraph or lines in a poem. It is often comprised of more than one sentence and sometimes consists of a full paragraph.metaphorcomparison
