8 Profiles of two leading employers GE Aviation Systems GE Aviation Systems, based in Cheltenham, employs 1,300 skilled workers. As a leading global provider of electrical power systems, avionics and propeller systems for both military and civil markets, the site in Cheltenham focuses on design, manufacturing and customer support for display and flight management systems and fuel gauging products. GE opened their new 30,000 sq ft Electrical Power Integration Centre in 2011, benefitting the wider aerospace supply chain with 3rd party access to world-class facilities, while engaging with leading researchers based in the region's universities. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty Messier-Bugatti-Dowty Limited, a Safran group company, is the world leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of landing gear systems. Messier- Bugatti-Dowty Limited landing gear is in service on more than 20,500 aircraft making over 35,000 landings every day. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty’s employs 900 people at it’s Gloucestershire site. Messier Bugatti-Dowty has been successfully selected in recent years to provide landing gear on new aircraft projects including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the latest Airbus A350XWB, Airbus A400M military transporter, Airbus A380 and Sukhoi Superjet 100.
