Tagging Tips! Make sure to print all tags on white, cardstock: Paper will tear and non-white cardstock may not scan well or can look dingy (off-white). Safety pins: please use commercial grade 1&1/16" (No. 1) or larger safety pins: no straight pins or small pins. Be careful with larger than 2" (No. 3) safety pins and use good judgment when it comes to pinning on leather, suede and other textiles that leave holes. In these cases, you will want to pin the tag onto the clothing label at the back of the neck or waist, where it is visible. NEVER use a tagging gun through the garment fabric, use the label or inside neck/waist seam to tag through. Safety pins can be used on the pocket area unless the fabric is satin or some other specialty fabric. You can use any hangers: Wire, retail store, plastic tube, etc. Need hangers? Click here!Click here!

Right/Wrong Way to Hang: shorts, pants & skirts ALWAYS pin to the top slopes of the hanger, so items don’t bunch and slide on the hanger. All items should be hung so that the hanger looks like “?” when looking at it from the front. You can layer outfits (pin pants to back of shirt (through hanger so it doesn’t weigh and damage the shirt) etc. and you can safety pin/rubberband multiple hangers together for multi-piece outfits. Make sure to list pieces on tag, in case they get separated.

Keep clothing sorted by gender/size! If you will keep your clothing sorted by gender/size, tagging will be a breeze…but so will drop-off! All racks are sorted by gender/size, which saves you time if you are organized! Button all buttons, snap all snaps, clip any loose threads and zip all zippers! Put matching socks, hats, etc. in ziploc bags and pin to the hanger of appropriate outfit.

What will you need to tag? White cardstock to print your tags on…NO copy paper (it tears too easily) Safety pins or a tagging gun Clear, packing tape (not masking, duct or Scotch tape) Painter’s tape for tagging books Children’s hangers for outfits under Size 7, Adult hanger for Size 7 and bigger Curling ribbon, yarn, zip ties, etc. To attach tags to items that are not easily taped. Batteries (all items need to be dropped off in working condition) Ziploc bags! These can make tagging SO easy. Buy at the dollar store and make sure to tape closed the opening! This is Packing Tape

Think Security, Presentation & Price to SELL! When you are preparing your items for the sale, make sure your items are secure…use parts of boxes to tape smaller items inside of ziploc bags to keep them from getting lost! Make your items easy to look at, easy to scan the tag and make sure everything is CLEAN and COMPLETE! Price to Sell…don’t go to all of the work of tagging only to pick-up your items because you have priced too high. Use the pricing guidelines if you’re not sure! And list the “Retail Price is $X” if your item is pricey, so moms know what your item cost new!pricing guidelines

Recalls, Crib & Carseat Waivers Make sure you check your items for recalls before you bring them because we are unable to accept recalled items. 14 Examples of Great Tagging: If you have lots of similar items or a group of small items, use cardboard and clear, plastic wrap to display. You could also use ziploc bags!

Using Ziploc Bags! Anything with lots of pieces should be put in a ziploc bag and then taped to any larger items….and list EVERYTHING that should be included: (for example the kitchen above) Step 2 Play Kitchen w/two large bags of accessories.

Using Clear, Packing Tape Use clear, packing tape to keep items together and to keep lids on!

Tagging Large Items When you have large items, keeping all of the parts together is key! Here are some ways you might use! TIP: If you are taping over stickers or paint, wrap the area with clear, kitchen wrap to make sure the tape does not peel them off!

Shoes… Shoes with tag can be put together in a ziplock bag or… -> use ribbon, zip ties, yarn, etc. to keep the shoes together and to attach the tag.

Ziploc Bags or Clear Plastic Kitchen Wrap

Grab Bags…EASY! Sleepers and Onesies, up to Size 5T, can be put into ziploc bags instead of hung…up to three per bag! Items that are hung do sell better. Just make sure moms know what’s inside, like: Bag of Boys Toddler Toys or 3 new pacifiers, bibs, bottle and bows.

Books, Games, DVDs… Attach tags with painters tape to protect books books from tearing. If you want to bundle sets, just wrap in plastic kitchen wrap, tie with string or put in ziploc bags. List titles on tag! Make sure all games/DVDs are free from scratches and seal with packing tape, wrap in plastic kitchen wrap or place in a ziploc bag.
