EDDM is an easy cost effective way to find buyers and sellers within very specific areas – your Farm Area The EDDM service is set up directly within the U.S. Postal service website The U.S. Postal service has every mailing address there is They also have incorporated a very robust demographics tool The combination allows you to do very FOCUSED direct mail campaigns

3 What is EveryDoorDirectMail? EDDM’s mapping tool is based on Routes not zip codes The mapping tool displays demographics within those Routes Age – Income – Number in Home – No need for expensive mailing lists It’s as easy as 1..2..3

4 Here’s How it Works 1.Plan Your Mailing - Use the mapping tool to help choose your postal routes and demographics 2.Create Your Mail piece - Design your own or hire a printer or mail service provider to create it using Every Door Direct Mail size specifications 3.Pay Online or at the Post Office - Pay for postage online with a free USPS.com® account or pay at the Post Office 4.Drop Off your Mail - Bring or send your mailing to a Post Office for delivery

5 Here’s How it works 1.Go to the Every Door Direct Mail site www.eddm.usps.comwww.eddm.usps.com 2.Enter a City, Zip Code, or Address to focus on

6 Here’s How it works A map of your area will come up You can zoom in and out with the map to focus in on your neighborhoods

7 Here’s How it works By default EDDM’s map is set for both commercial and residential Switch to residential only to focus your effort

8 Here’s How it works The “Age” tool will allow you to adjust by scale and see the percentage of people within a route who are in that demographic

9 Here’s How it works Additional Demographics displayed – 1. Size – Average Number of People per Household 2. Income – Average Household Income 3. Cost – Estimated cost to send EDDM to that Route

10 Here’s How it works Lets do the math on that – 604 residential address’s delivered for $105.70 That’s $0.18 per piece

11 Here’s How it works You can choose 1 or multiple routes Most of your Larger Neighborhoods will have more than 1 route Your MDU’s will have multiple complex’s within 1 route KNOW YOUR AREA (play with the map)

12 Here’s How it works You select continue, you will need to create an account on the USPS website The site walks you through the account set up process (kind of a pain, but a 1 time deal)

13 Here’s How it works Once you have created your USPS account you will be taken to a calendar to schedule your drop off date…Not Yet Save your Order – It will be in your Saved Orders on your new account

Create Your Mail Piece – Your mailer must meet the minimum guidelines of the USPS You can send post card’s (4.5X6) You can send Brochures (tri folded 11X17) You can send Flyers (8.5X11) But you MUST use the right paper/card stock (use the “size checker” tool on the EDDM.USPS website)

16 Here’s How it works On the front side of your mailer, use color, images and headlines that grab your targets attention Renting verse Buying what’s the Real difference Home Prices are headed Up or simply Thinking of selling?

17 Here’s How it works On the inside be short and sweet with your message Bullet Points are great for this Focus on the Benefits “Make improvements and personalize your living quarters” “Low inventory is helping us get full asking price offers and selling quick” “Research and hire a real estate professional who has your best interest in mind”

18 Here’s How it works Make it easy for people to take advantage of the benefits Phone Number prevalent on mailer Website address visible and easy to get to (they will research you) Email address visible A picture of YOU….let them know you are real

19 Here’s How it works Lets make a sample I am going to be using Power Point to create my sample You can use anything you feel most comfortable with If you do not feel like you can do this part…..Use a graphic design service (nextdayflyers.com has one built into the system as do most printers you find)

20 Here’s How it works Start by getting a good back ground image that is relevant to your targets Google.com/images is a great place to get them

21 Here’s How it works Click the search tools button then drop down the Usage Rights option Select “labeled for reuse”

22 Here’s How it works Screen capture the one you chose (I use Jing for screen capture)

23 Here’s How it works Set the size of your Power Point slide so you are working within the limits of your mailer (I am doing a 5X7 post card)
