Any sort of learning that happens when the learner is not at a fixed, predetermined location, or learning that happens when the learner takes advantage of the learning opportunities offered by mobile technologies. Social media in the T/L environment is included under mLearning.

 Smart Phones & Devices  MP3 Players  Laptops, Tablets  eBook Reader (Nook, Kindle, etc)  Game Consoles (PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii, etc)

 Social media focus  Anytime, anywhere learning  Incorporates texting  Students can be resources—not just USE resources

How?

 Learners can use technologies to participate in virtual communities where they share ideas, collaborate, as well as plan, design, advance, implement, or simply discuss their goals and ideas together.  http://www.onlinecollege.org/ wp- content/uploads/2012/04/Inf ographic-20-Compelling- Reasons-to-Spend-Less- Time-on-Facebook-and- More-Time-on-LinkedIn.png http://www.onlinecollege.org/ wp- content/uploads/2012/04/Inf ographic-20-Compelling- Reasons-to-Spend-Less- Time-on-Facebook-and- More-Time-on-LinkedIn.png

 Podcasts  Video DB responses/assignments/peer critiques  Video and/or audio feedback from you

 Clickers are personal response systems that allow teachers to poll their class during a lesson.  It provides teachers with the real-time feedback they need to be sure their messages are being received.  eClicker is an example that allows students to use their smart phones. All you need to get started is the eClicker Host app running on a Wi-Fi network, and students need internet-enabled devices to participate.

The Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research has a cell phone service with tools to help in a medical emergency. The service includes:  first-aid tips,  a symptom checker  health-related video news alerts  nearby emergency and urgent-care facilities.

 With GPS BiM can track your speed as you run or cycle as well as track performance measurements such as minutes per mile and calorie burn  It's connected to a network, so it keeps track of your route and shows where you've been, and it lets you share that that data with others via the Web.  BiM has community-oriented features: you can rate the routes you run or cycle and signify what kind of conditions they offer.

 “ Most students spend time reading information that Facebook puts in front of them, not what they seek out on their own. ” (Miller & Jensen, 2007)

I would like to be able to communicate with my professors via Facebook. I believe if there is more intraction with the websites that we use or want to use students would be more interested to getting online and doing the work. I think podcasts would be especially helpful if a student was sick and had to miss class because it would enable them to still hear the lecture from the day they missed. the more technology the better! A student should have a wide variety of technology to choose from.  It is a good thing for the instructors to use technology because that is what this generation mainly depends on. Students would rather be on the internet than in a classroom.

 Presentation & Training of Faculty/Students— Ground Rules/Social Model of Behavior ◦ Guidebook for Faculty using Social Media Guidebook for Faculty using Social Media  Security ◦ Groups vs. pages; security settings, and more  Technical Requirements  Accessibility/Usability ◦ Student user characteristics ◦ Physical, Cognitive, Financial
