Parts of Speech: Vocabulary or Terms Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Parts of Speech Terms…11 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Vocabulary Terms box along with the title box. Cut the labelled boxes (i.e. Nouns, Pronouns, etc.) to the DOTTED LINE so that each flap opens up to the left side. Glue or tape the 3 sides onto page 11.

Parts of Speech: Vocabulary or Terms Next, underneath each flap write: Noun- school Pronoun – she Adjective – tall Verb – run Adverb – “ly” words not, very=always adverb s Preposition – of, for, with Conjunction- FANBOYS + ; Interjection - Yipes! Oh drat,

Parts of Speech: Vocabulary or Terms On page 10: Draw, write or cut out a picture of each part of speech.

Parts of Speech: Nouns Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Nouns…13 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Nouns box along with the title box. Cut the “X” lines on the box to the Corners so that each flap opens up. Glue or tape the 4 sides onto page 13.

Parts of Speech: Nouns Next, underneath each flap write: Person- Mrs. Gerber student thing – notebook paper place – Winfield school idea – freedom thought

Parts of Speech: Nouns Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Common and Proper nouns boxes along. Glue or tape the on the outside flap so that each box opens up to its respective side onto page 12. On the Common Nouns write: refers to people, placed, things or ideas in general On the Proper Nouns write: names a specific idea, person, place or thing and are Capitalized. With a partner: Write at least 3 examples of each underneath the corresponding flaps!

Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es” Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Plurals…15 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Plurals box along with the title box + the photos & tomatoes rectangles with foldable flaps. Cut the kitty and box boxes to the “s” “es” lines on the top of the box so that each flap opens up. Glue or tape the top edge onto page 15.

Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es” Underneath the “s” or kitties box write: dogs, cats, pencils, houses Underneath the “es” or boxes write: when the singular form ends in: s,ss,x,sh,ch Next, secure with glue or tape the ends of the photos and tomatoes rectangles. Fold both flaps in so one is on top of the other and write: radio, piano on the photos and hero and potato on the tomatoes. Next to both rectangles write: *No rule-you have to learn

Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es” Write : sheep, deer, scissors in the appropriate boxes and women, person/people With a partner or your table complete the table and complete the knife foldable as shown in the picture.

Parts of Speech: Possessive Nouns/Pronouns Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Possessive Nouns/Pronouns…17 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Possessive Nouns box along with the title box. Glue or tape the entire box onto page 17.

Glue or tape the box + rectangles onto page 16. Fold the foldables and write on them: the corresponding word listed on the opposite side of the flap. Substitute “Smiths’ for Gus on the “house” flap!

Glue or tape the bottom half of the box onto page 19. Write on Flap #1 Relative Pronouns begin clauses #2 Indefinite Pronouns general way to refer to nouns #3 Demonstrative Pronouns point out specific persons, places, things or ideas.

Fold the foldables and write on them: the corresponding word listed on the opposite side of the flap. Then with a partner identify and label each kind of pronoun refer to pgs 51,52 in your Grammar workbook.

In addition cut out the foldable Parts of Speech: Adjectives sentences + the “great” rectangles. Glue or tape the sides of the boxes onto page 21 so that each box opens to the “left” side.

Parts of Speech: Adjectives Underneath the “a” + “an” box write: The crazy, tall teacher left. I attend a small, rural school. I bought an exotic animal. Underneath the “button/the” box write: a, an and the signal a noun is coming. Any words between a, an or the and the noun are adjectives. Underneath the two boxes write: Answer: How many? Which one? What kind? In addition write on the foldable Parts of Speech: Adjectives sentences + the “great” rectangles the words on the opposite side of the foldables..

Parts of Speech: Verbs Underneath the “Action” flap write: Transitive verbs are followed by a word or words that answer the question what? Or whom? Ella ate the cake (what?). Below write: Intransitive verbs don’t have a “receiver” (who or what?) for the action. The jeep flew (down the road). Prepostional phrase Mark left. (sentence stops)

Glue or tape the box onto page 29 along with the foldable word “beside” rectangle. Next draw a “house” and write “Anywhere a cat can go”…in on under

Parts of Speech: Prepositions Color and Cut out the Prepositions can show position box AND the on, in and with foldable word rectangles. Cut each box (i.e. “up”, “off”, etc. ) to the tab so that each flap opens up to the left side. Glue or tape the box onto page 28 onto the left side tab. Underneath each flap write the opposite of the preposition on top of the flap…up/down, etc. Complete the word foldables and glue/tape them onto pg 28. Notebook Check Next CLASS!

Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Conjunctions title box AND the Coordinating conjunctions box AND the AND, BUT, Or box along with the box from your Grammar book pg 67. Glue or tape the boxes onto page 31 With the Coordinating Conjunctions box on top of the AND, OR, BUT box.

Parts of Speech: Conjunctions Underneath the No Comma flap write: No comma when comparing two adjectives combining two nouns/pronouns or contrasting two nouns/pronouns. Underneath the Comma flap write: Use a comma + a coordinating conjunction to join two independent clauses. The comma comes BEFORE the conjunction.

Parts of Speech: Conjunctions Underneath the No Comma flap: Fix each of the Example sentences according to the rules on each FLAP. On the foldable: Create two independent clauses which can be joined by a coordinating conjunction.
