2 Parts of Speech: Vocabulary or Terms  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Parts of Speech Terms…11 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Vocabulary Terms box along with the title box. Cut the labelled boxes (i.e. Nouns, Pronouns, etc.) to the DOTTED LINE so that each flap opens up to the left side. Glue or tape the 3 sides onto page 11.

3 Parts of Speech: Vocabulary or Terms  Next, underneath each flap write: Noun- school Pronoun – she Adjective – tall Verb – run Adverb – “ly” words not, very=always adverb s Preposition – of, for, with Conjunction- FANBOYS + ; Interjection - Yipes! Oh drat,

4 Parts of Speech: Vocabulary or Terms  On page 10: Draw, write or cut out a picture of each part of speech.

5 Parts of Speech: Nouns  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Nouns…13 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Nouns box along with the title box. Cut the “X” lines on the box to the Corners so that each flap opens up. Glue or tape the 4 sides onto page 13.

6 Parts of Speech: Nouns  Next, underneath each flap write: Person- Mrs. Gerber student thing – notebook paper place – Winfield school idea – freedom thought

7 Parts of Speech: Nouns  Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Common and Proper nouns boxes along. Glue or tape the on the outside flap so that each box opens up to its respective side onto page 12. On the Common Nouns write: refers to people, placed, things or ideas in general On the Proper Nouns write: names a specific idea, person, place or thing and are Capitalized. With a partner: Write at least 3 examples of each underneath the corresponding flaps!

8 Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es”  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Plurals…15 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Plurals box along with the title box + the photos & tomatoes rectangles with foldable flaps. Cut the kitty and box boxes to the “s” “es” lines on the top of the box so that each flap opens up. Glue or tape the top edge onto page 15.

9 Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es”  Underneath the “s” or kitties box write: dogs, cats, pencils, houses Underneath the “es” or boxes write: when the singular form ends in: s,ss,x,sh,ch Next, secure with glue or tape the ends of the photos and tomatoes rectangles. Fold both flaps in so one is on top of the other and write: radio, piano on the photos and hero and potato on the tomatoes. Next to both rectangles write: *No rule-you have to learn

10 Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es”  Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Irregular Plurals box along the knife rectangle with foldable flaps.. Glue or tape the entire box onto page 14  With the knife rectangle directly underneath the box.

11 Parts of Speech: Plurals of Nouns with “s” “es”  Write : sheep, deer, scissors in the appropriate boxes and women, person/people  With a partner or your table complete the table and complete the knife foldable as shown in the picture.

12 Parts of Speech: Possessive Nouns/Pronouns  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Possessive Nouns/Pronouns…17 Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Possessive Nouns box along with the title box. Glue or tape the entire box onto page 17.

13 Parts of Speech: Possessive Nouns/Pronouns  Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Possessive Nouns/Pronouns title box along with the foldable sentence rectangles. Glue or tape the box + rectangles onto page 16. Fold the foldables and write on them: the corresponding word listed on the opposite side of the flap. Substitute “Smiths’ for Gus on the “house” flap!

14 Parts of Speech: Pronouns  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Pronouns…19 Select a piece of colored paper and fold it hamburger style in half. Cut two slots to make 3 “flaps”. Glue or tape the bottom half of the box onto page 19. Write on Flap #1 Relative Pronouns begin clauses  #2 Indefinite Pronouns general way to refer to nouns  #3 Demonstrative Pronouns point out specific persons, places, things or ideas.

15 Parts of Speech: Pronouns  Underneath Flap #1 write: who whoever whom whomever what whatever which whichever that whose Flap #2 write: everything most few one other many neither nobody everyone all none nothing another others any one anybody anyone several some somebody someone something anything both each either enough everybody

16 Parts of Speech: Pronouns  Underneath Flap #3 write: Singular: this that Plural: these those

17 Parts of Speech: Pronouns  Color and cut out the Parts of Speech Pronouns box along with the foldable sentence/pronoun rectangles. Glue or tape the box + rectangles onto page 18. Fold the foldables and write on them: the corresponding word listed on the opposite side of the flap. Then with a partner identify and label each kind of pronoun refer to pgs 51,52 in your Grammar workbook.

18 Parts of Speech: Adjectives  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Adjectives…21 Color and Cut out the button and “a” + “an” boxes along with the title box. In addition cut out the foldable Parts of Speech: Adjectives sentences + the “great” rectangles. Glue or tape the sides of the boxes onto page 21 so that each box opens to the “left” side.

19 Parts of Speech: Adjectives  Underneath the “a” + “an” box write: The crazy, tall teacher left. I attend a small, rural school. I bought an exotic animal. Underneath the “button/the” box write: a, an and the signal a noun is coming. Any words between a, an or the and the noun are adjectives. Underneath the two boxes write: Answer: How many? Which one? What kind? In addition write on the foldable Parts of Speech: Adjectives sentences + the “great” rectangles the words on the opposite side of the foldables..

20 Parts of Speech: Adjectives Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Adjectives 3 Forms Box along with the title box. Glue or tape the entire box along with the “great” rectangle foldable onto page 20.

21 Parts of Speech: Adjectives With a partner or your table complete the table after filling in the following: important- more important, most important good- better, best bad- worse, worst.

22 Parts of Speech: Verbs  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Verbs…23 Color and Cut out Action/Linking Verb boxes along with the title box. Glue or tape the sides of the boxes onto page 23 so that each box opens to “UP”.

23 Parts of Speech: Verbs  Underneath the “Action” flap write: Transitive verbs are followed by a word or words that answer the question what? Or whom? Ella ate the cake (what?). Below write: Intransitive verbs don’t have a “receiver” (who or what?) for the action. The jeep flew (down the road). Prepostional phrase Mark left. (sentence stops)

24 Parts of Speech: Verbs  Underneath the “Linking” flap write:  appear  become  feel  grow  look  remain  seem  sound  smell  taste

25 Parts of Speech: Verbs  Color and Cut out Subject/Linking Verb/Complement box. Glue or tape the sides of the box onto page 22 so that each box opens to “UP”.

26 Parts of Speech: Verbs  With a partner or your table add 3 more linking verbs and complements underneath the flaps on pg 23.  Notebook check Next CLASS!

27 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Adverbs…25 Color and Cut out the Parts of speech: Adverbs boxes along with the title box. Glue or tape the Adverbs tell … boxes into a staggered flip book onto page 25 so that each box is a flap that opens “up”.

28 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  On the Adverbs tell flap write: verb, adverbs and adjectives  On the How flap write : awkwardly absentmindedly briskly extravagantly lazily quickly

29 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  On the When flap write: after before never yesterday weekly when  On the Where flap write : here inside abroad everywhere away anywhere  On the How often or How much flap write : quite rather too really not, very are ALWAYS adverbs

30 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  On the Why flap write: infinitive phrases  -to see her brother  -to finish his homework  On the left side of the boxes write : not, very are ALWAYS adverbs  On the right side of the boxes write : “ly” words usually adverbs

31 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Adverbs title box and foldable sentence rectangles. Glue or tape the foldable sentence rectangles onto page 24. Write the words on the opposite side of the foldable flaps.

32 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Adverbs: Comparison…27 Color and Cut out the Three Forms of Adverbs box along with the title box. Glue or tape the Three Forms of Adverbs box onto page 27 along with the foldable sentence rectangle from the other page.

33 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  Next to the selected words Three Forms of write: early earlier earliest much more most little less least slowly more slowly most slowly well better best badly worse worst Write the phrases on the foldables to finish the sentence.

34 Parts of Speech: Adverbs  Color and Cut out the Adverbs from Adjectives box along with the title box + the calm, helpful and easy boxes. Glue or tape the box onto page 26 along with the 3 word foldables. Complete the foldables and with a partner complete the table.  Use at least 2 of the words in a sentence.

35 Parts of Speech: Prepositions  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Prepositions…29. Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Prepositions title box AND the Box with lists of Prepositions from your Grammar book pg 65. Glue or tape the box onto page 29 along with the foldable word “beside” rectangle. Next draw a “house” and write “Anywhere a cat can go”…in on under

36 Parts of Speech: Prepositions  Color and Cut out the Prepositions can show position box AND the on, in and with foldable word rectangles. Cut each box (i.e. “up”, “off”, etc. ) to the tab so that each flap opens up to the left side. Glue or tape the box onto page 28 onto the left side tab. Underneath each flap write the opposite of the preposition on top of the flap…up/down, etc. Complete the word foldables and glue/tape them onto pg 28. Notebook Check Next CLASS!

37 Parts of Speech: Conjunctions  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Conjunctions…31. Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Conjunctions title box AND the Coordinating conjunctions box AND the AND, BUT, Or box along with the box from your Grammar book pg 67. Glue or tape the boxes onto page 31 With the Coordinating Conjunctions box on top of the AND, OR, BUT box.

38 Parts of Speech: Conjunctions  Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Conjunctions title box AND the No Comma/Comma box AND the Two Common Errors box and the, FANBOYS foldable sentence strip. Glue or tape the boxes onto page 30 With the No Comma/Comma box so it opens to the sides. Next glue/tape the Two Common Errors box so that each box opens “UP”.

39 Parts of Speech: Conjunctions  Underneath the No Comma flap write: No comma when comparing two adjectives combining two nouns/pronouns or contrasting two nouns/pronouns. Underneath the Comma flap write: Use a comma + a coordinating conjunction to join two independent clauses. The comma comes BEFORE the conjunction.

40 Parts of Speech: Conjunctions  Underneath the No Comma flap: Fix each of the Example sentences according to the rules on each FLAP. On the foldable: Create two independent clauses which can be joined by a coordinating conjunction.

41 Parts of Speech: Interjections  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Interjections…33. Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Interjections title box, the OUCH! Foldable, AND the Common Conjunctive Adverbs box from your Grammar book pg 69. Glue or tape the box along with the title page and foldable onto page 33.

42 Parts of Speech: Interjections  Color and Cut out the Parts of Speech: Interjections: surprise, fear, etc. box,. Glue or tape the box along the sides so that each flap opens to its respective side onto page 32. Finish the OUCH foldable on page 33.

43 Parts of Speech: Interjections  Underneath the SURPRISE flap write: Oh, Goodness, Good Lord, My heavens, Holy Cow  Underneath the ANGER flap write: Argh, Rats .

44 Parts of Speech: Interjections  Underneath the Fear flap write: For heaven’s sake, Oops, Uh-oh, No way, Ow  Underneath the Joy flap write: Bless you, Cheers, Wow, Bravo, Amen

45 Parts of Speech: Double Duty Words Change Their Function  Turn to your Table of Contents page and write: Double-Duty Words Change Their Functions…35. Color and Cut out the Double-Duty Words Change Their Function title box, the Noun/Verb box, AND the Sentence Strips. Glue or tape the box on 3 sides only along with the title page onto page 35.

46 Parts of Speech: Double Duty Words Change Their Function  Color and Cut out the four Sentence Strips, AND create four more of your own using 2 more words that can function as both a noun and a verb. Place into appropriate boxes.

47 Parts of Speech: Double Duty Words Change Their Function  Color and Cut out the Use as an Adjective, etc. box. Glue/Tape the box onto page 34. Next, use at least 2 of the words in sentences as Adjectives and the recreate sentences using them as Adverbs. Notebook Check October 16-A/17-B !
