2. Hideki Tojo  Tojo became leader of militarists in Japan.  Japan joined Germany and Italy in the Axis Powers.  He believed USA to be lazy and overly materialistic.  Believed Japan should take Pacific lands from Europeans

4. Benito Mussolini  Italy- in political and economic crisis, people scared for future  Mussolini had support of middle class –they were seeking stability  1922- march on Rome- Victor Emmanuel made him Prime Minister

5. Benito Mussolini  Promised the middle class job stability.  He promised to drop the unemployment rate.  Promised to rebuild the infrastructure of Italy  wanted everyone to live and work ONLY for the state.

9. Josef Stalin  Josef Stalin lead Russia all of World War Two to his death in 1953World War Two  he came from a poor background  Acted like he was “dull” but really very ruthless and very smart

10. Josef Stalin  Purged the Army in the 1930’s of people he felt would challenge his power  Killed over 20 million of his own people by the Secret Police  Held Political Power through use of terror

11. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR)  president who headed the New Deal to get America out of the Great DepressionNew Deal America  Only president elected four times  Led the USA for most of World War II
