2 CLASSROOM PROCEDURES Entering the classroom As you file past the counter, please pick up: 1.Any graded assignments in your class folder. 2.Any make-up handouts with your name in your class folder if you were absent. 3.Any hand-outs lying in the “Student Handout Pick-Up” area on the counter labeled with your class.

3 GENERAL ENTERING THE ROOM PROCEDURES  Please enter quietly  Take your seat  Take out your materials  Review the agenda  Begin bellwork/ science starter assignment

4 RULE #1 Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned science starter/ bellwork before the bell rings. (stay in your seat until dismissed by me, NOT the bell)

5 RULE #2 Bring ALL materials (textbook, notebook, pencil, pen, calculator) with you to class and take them with you when you leave!

6 RULE #3 Follow directions the FIRST time they are given!

7 RULE #4 Treat each other with respect. (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you)

8 RULE #5 Follow ALL procedures and policies as outlined in this class and in the CSY handbook.

9 MAKE-UP WORK Check RenWeb. 1.Check your class make-up folder for any handouts with your name. (check the wiki too) 2.Copy class notes from a friend. These can be photocopied. 3.For missed labs, you may copy the data from your lab partner to complete the lab (unless otherwise specified). 4.Make an appointment with me to make up a missed test. 5.Note the due date. You have one day grace period for each day absent.

10 MISSING CLASS FOR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES Students who miss class due to school activities or early dismissals are responsible to turn in assignments and get the next assignments before leaving for the activity. This includes, but is not limited to, sports, Bible quizzing, DC, student senate, and field trips. Assignments not turned in on time will receive the same penalties!

13 HOMEWORK POLICY It is your responsibility to turn in your homework/ assignments in a timely manner. If you do not turn it in when it is due, the first day it is late, the grade drops to 70%. Days 2-5 late will receive a 50%. After day 5, the homework will not be accepted. I will not ask you for late homework; it is your responsibility to make sure that it gets turned in to me.

14 BLUE SLIPS If homework is being turned in, and you do not have your homework, you must complete and turn in a blue slip. 15 THE BELL  Students are to be in their seats, working on their bellwork/ science starter before the bell rings.  Students are to remain in their seats until dismissed by the teacher (I dismiss you, the bell does not dismiss you)  Interruptions of class time to use the bathroom will only be tolerated in the case of an emergency

17 WIKISPACES What is a wiki? A wiki is a website to which I can add files and links to sites that we can use for class. Our wiki for conceptual physics can be found at: http://csyconceptualphysics.wikispaces.com/ I’ve created usernames and passwords for each of you.

18 THE LABORATORY  Proper lab procedures/ safety will be explained fully  Students and parents will be required to read and sign a safety contract.  Absolutely no horseplay or irresponsible behavior will be tolerated.

19  On the first offense, students will be removed from the lab, receive a zero, and have to write a formal statement including the offense and its correction before being admitted to the lab again. Parents and administration will be notified.  If there is a second offense, the student may be permanently removed from the class.  These standards MUST be strict in order to protect our students, equipment and school.

20 LAB NOTEBOOKS Students in all chemistry classes are required to keep a lab notebook.  A bound composition notebook (any color/ pattern)  First page shall be entitled “Table of Contents”  All pages are to be numbered  No pages may be removed from the notebook  All data and work must be written in ink (either blue or black)
