2 An Orientation to HSPnet: How to Access the Evaluation Module (ACP) McMaster Physiotherapy Program Clinical Education Feb 2016

3 Introduction This presentation provides a brief introduction, for clinical instructors and students, on how to login to the online evaluation module for the MSc(PT) placements from McMaster. This module does not provide an overview on how to use the Canadian Assessment of Clinical Performance (ACP). 4 Login and Password Information For Clinical Instructors In order to access the ACP online you will require a login and password –This information will be sent to you after you receive a letter confirming the name of the student and the placement dates The login and temporary password will be emailed to you from HSPnet. Please check your “junk” or “spam” mailboxes if it does not arrive in your inbox *If you have not received this information 3 days prior to the start of placement please contact: McMaster Physiotherapy Clinical Education Team 905-525-9140 ext. 27806 Or ptclned@mcmaster.ca For Students : Login is your student number, you should have received an HSPnet temporary password and set up your account in advance of submitting your first placement preferences If you cannot remember your password, after 5 incorrect attempts, a new temporary password will be emailed to your McMaster student email address

5 Logging Into HSPnet To access the ACP you will be required to login at the HSPnet home page http://hspcanada.net/http://hspcanada.net/ Once you are on the homepage you will need to “click” on the province of Ontario to access the login site

6 Logging in Once you have clicked on Ontario, you will be brought to this screen where you enter your login and password. Please be aware that they are case sensitive! *if you forget your login and password, attempt 5 times, and then a new password will be automatically emailed to you

7 First Time Login You will be required to change your temporary password – follow the links on the screen You will also be required to complete a 3 min privacy and security module Once you have completed both of these steps you will be asked to log out and return to the HSPnet home page; –Your account will be activated with the NEW password 2 minutes after this is complete *Note: Clinical Instructors & Students can access the assessment module (ACP) prior to the start of placement to allow for the first login and completion of the privacy module to be completed in advance of mid term

8 The ACP- Instructors Once you have logged in you will be brought to a message center that includes the link to the ACP for the student(s) you have for the current placement Note: On this page you will also find a link to general instructions re: how to access the module (if you forget!)

9 The ACP- Students Once you have logged in you will be brought to a message center that includes various tabs. Select the ‘Assessments’ tab Note: Under the messages tab, you will also find a link to instructions re: Student Assessment Module (if you forget!)

10 The ACP IMPORTANT: You can start and stop the assessment as you require prior to the mid term and final evaluation The MID TERM evaluation will be locked and no longer accessible 22 days after your placement starts (day 1 is day 0) – which includes weekend days The FINAL evaluation will be locked and no longer accessible 3 days after your placement ends Students will be expected to complete and submit their self- assessment the day before the mid term and final evaluations are going to be discussed *if you require your placement dates to be adjusted please contact the McMaster PT Clinical Education Team 905-525-9140 ext. 27806 or ptclned@mcmaster.captclned@mcmaster.ca

11 Completing the ACP From the message page click on “open” to start completing the ACP The ACP will open in a new browser tab and display the instruction page –Please read the instructions carefully Proceed to the next page by clicking the “Next>” button at the bottom of the page OR by selecting the page from the left navigation Notes: A Red ✔ will appear beside a page if you have entered ratings on a page Changes will be automatically saved when you move to a new page OR when you click “close window” to return to your welcome screen When you start an assessment the icon on your Welcome Screen will change yellow to indicate your assessment is under way

12 Submitting the ACP After you complete all mandatory questions (note that 4.2.2. is NOT mandatory) a Red ✔ will appear after each page in the navigation AND a button is displayed on the last page to Submit this Assessment Submitting the assessment makes it visible to the student –You may need to consider when this is done You will know it is submitted when you return to your welcome screen and see a GREEN icon –To make further changes before the assessment period is closed click UNLOCK to access it *if you want to make changes after the assessment period is closed, you will need to contact the MSc(PT) clinical education team at ptclned@mcmaster.ca or 905-525-9140 ext 27806ptclned@mcmaster.ca

13 Student at Risk If the “Student at Risk” box is clicked on any pages of the ACP for mid term or final – the DCE will automatically be notified via a HSPnet alert Please still CALL or email the DCE so that the information can be discussed further 905-525-9140 ext 27814 OR wojkows@mcmaster.ca wojkows@mcmaster.ca

14 Multiple C.I’s at the SAME site One CI will be identified as being the lead on the ACP assessment for mid term and for final –Please notify the program if you have a specific request for which CI will take the lead on which evaluation At this time only the LEAD CI can input the information on the ACP – but the co-CI will have an ability to login and view what is written

15 Multiple C.I’s at Different Sites Each CI will be required to complete a separate ACP for the student unless arranged prior to the start of placement C.I’s from different sites will not be able to view the student evaluation from the other site

16 ACP Training All students attending Unit 2 placement have already completed online training All C.Is are required to complete the online training module for the ACP at least once prior to the first student who will be assessed with the ACP At McMaster, C.I’s will be provided with a one time stipend that will be added to the CI payment for the placement IF a copy of the PDF certificate is emailed / faxed / mailed to the PT Clinical Education team ptclned@mcmaster.captclned@mcmaster.ca OR Fax: 905-524-0069
