Our Mission: is to provide emergency food and personal care services, access to service referrals along with specific education and development activities that are designed to enhance human dignity and sustain families and individuals in the North End, zip codes 48202 and 48211. 0

6 Relocation of the Storehouse Client’s Choice Pantry COMING MID NOVEMBER

7 AND  Organized our clients to create NEWCC focusing on Transit Justice as critical to the North End  Resulting in an essential leadership role in the drafting of a City Ordinance for an enforceable Community Benefits Agreement Ordinance (CBO)

9 Sports Arenas – Downward Trend Joe Louis Arena in 1980 Red Wings Bruce Norris pays Detroit  Sports Arenas – Downward Trend 25 % of gross above $750,000 from any television rights  Includes both Joe Louis & Cobo Events  OLYMPIA COMPLEX 2015  $650 million complex  $284 million tax break  39 Parcels for $1.00 (Billionaire’s Discount)  Ilitch refuses CBA  Ilitch takes 100% of revenue  No legally binding agreement to hire Detroiters or for any other benefits  The 2 nd sports complex built for Ilitich with public money (Comerica Park being the first)

13 Detroit Community Benefits Ordinance  The latest version under discussion:  Only applies to developments requesting public subsidies  Triggers: $15-million or larger developments apply  Goal: Community impacts addressed  Not one-size-fits-all: Specific agreements developed  Exemptions allowed – equivalent agreements or impasse
