THE EARTH By BOBDIDDLEBOB and Realfife9

introduction This slide show is about the Earth, tectonic plate movement and natural disasters. The Earth is very fragile and one tiny interference could cause a lot of damage.

Plate Tectonics Plate Tectonics are plates under the ground. When they collide together they create an earthquake, tsunami or volcano. There are three types of plate boundary. Divergent Convergent Transform

Tsunamis Tsunamis are giant waves caused by volcanic eruptions or earthquakes under the sea. Tsunamis are caused by movement of the tectonic plates. In July 1958 the world biggest tsunami struck Alaska. It was 3,000ft tall (914m)

The structure of the earth The earth is made up of three main structures, core, crust, mantle. The inner bit is called the core. The crust is where we live. The mantle is the largest Section of the earth.

Earthquakes Earthquakes are measured on the Richter scale or the seismograph. The Richter scale starts at 1-8. Earthquakes happen every hour around the world. Lights swing at level 3, windows break at 5 and buildings and bridges collapse at 7.

Volcanoes Volcanoes are usually mountains with a bowl in the top called the crater. Most eruptions happen in the crater. Sometimes lava flows through the vents too.
