A Balanced Assessment System Summative assessments benchmarked to college and career readiness WVUSD Assessment Window March 10-May 28, 2015 Teachers and schools have information and tools they need to improve teaching and learning All students leave high school college and career ready Common Core State Standards specify K-12 expectations for college and career readiness Educator resources for formative assessment practices to improve instruction Interim assessments flexible, open, used for actionable feedback

CAASPP Components Computer adaptive assessments and Performance Tasks for ELA and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 11 Smarter Balanced Assessments for grade 11 will be used for purposes of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) California Standards Test (CST) paper/pencil tests in science for grades 5, 8, and 10

CAASPP Reporting Results Smarter Balanced results will be reported at the following levels: – State – County – District – School site – Grade level – Parent

Walnut Valley Unified School District’s Preparation for Smarter Balance Assessments Technology Common Core Funding: Over 2,200 additional devices have been purchased to ensure the minimum of: – Elementary Schools-150 devices – Middle Schools-350 devices – High School devices
