3 What To Expect in 2014-2015 CAASPP: California Accountability System (California Assessment for Student Performance and Progress) ● Science CST (California Standards Test), CAPA and CMA ● PFT (Physical Fitness Test) ● SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) ● CAHSEE - High School Only (California High School Exit Exam) ● CAA (California Alternate Assessment) Orange Unified: A District of Excellence

4 Science CST, CMA and CAPA (California Standards Test) ● What: Paper/Pencil, All Multiple Choice, Based on California State Science Standards ● Versions available: CST, CMA, CAPA ● Who: Grade 10 ● When: Testing Window: Mid April to Early May, 2015 ● Results: mailed home during summer/early fall Orange Unified: A District of Excellence MORE INFORMATION: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr /

5 California Alternate Assessment (formally the CAPA) ● What: Computer-based assessment in ELA and Math ● Who: Students identified as needing an alternate assessment and CAPA supports, grade 11 ● When: Testing Window: Mid April to Early June, 2015 ● Results: mailed home during summer/early fall Orange Unified: A District of Excellence MORE INFORMATION: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/altassessment.as p

6 PFT (Physical Fitness Test) The PFT provides information that can be used by 1)students to assess and plan personal fitness programs 2)teachers to design the curriculum for PE programs 3)parents and guardians to understand their child’s fitness levels ● When: Testing Window: March - April 2015 ● Who: Grade 9 ● Results for the PFT each year can be accessed through Parent/Student Portal or your child’s PE Teacher Orange Unified: A District of Excellence MORE INFORMATION: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/pf/pftexemptions.asp

7 CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) In California, all high school students must pass the CAHSEE to earn a high school diploma. Some exceptions apply for some students with disabilities. ● Who: 10th-12th graders ● When: 10th graders: March 2015, 11th and 12th graders: Nov 2015 and, if needed, May 2015 ● What: English Language Arts and Math Test Orange Unified: A District of Excellence

8 SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) DETAILS ● What: Test is taken on the computer ● Who: Grades: 11 ● Tests Available: English Language Arts & Math ● Each test is a total of 4 hours average - this means each student will have 8 hours of testing (broken into many sessions) ● When: Testing Window: April - May 2015 ● Universal Tools, Designated Supports and Accommodations available to support students Orange Unified: A District of Excellence

9 SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) GRADING & REPORTING Score reports for SBAC will be mailed to parents Summer 2015. When you get those, you’ll notice: ● Proficiency bands are titled, Level One, Level Two, Level Three, Level Four ● In Year One of testing every student tested will have a baseline scale score out of a total possible 3000 ● Report will include English Language Arts and Mathematics Orange Unified: A District of Excellence

10 SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) If your child has taken a California Standardized Test (CST) in previous years, the reporting scores are not the same and should not be compared. Orange Unified: A District of Excellence FORMER TEST Levels: 5 levels Score: 150 - 600 SBAC TEST Levels: 4 levels Score: up to 3000
