Description  A telecommunications technician is a person who works for a company that deals with telecommunications  They do one of two jobs Install and repair the infrastructure (i.e. telephone wires and internet cables) Troubleshoot issues with the infrastructure, including software and hardware located at the company’s operating office

Expected Hours of Work  Telecommunications technicians usually work an average 8 hour shifts for 5 days a week, a typical 40 hour work week  However, they may be on call for emergencies (i.e. storm outages)  Also, shifts can last above the 8 hour mark if the minimum amount of work required is not finished in time

Earning Potential  The expected hourly wage of telecommunications technicians can range anywhere from dollars an hour  This equates to $20,000-$60,000 a year
