2 ICT Technician An ICT technician is a person who works in an IT based environment and their job is to fix any computer that is not functioning properly. They must know all the different components in a computer and know how the computer works. They also operate in security, software/system installation, operation and administration. They must have good communication skills and team working skills. The average pay for an ICT technician is around £12,000. You need at least 3 GCSE’s including Maths and English or A level at a pass grade in IT.

3 Computer programmer A computer programmer is a person who codes a computer to do a specific task. The instructions are called programs, before writing the code the programmer gets the algorithms from a software engineer. A computer programmer needs to be patient as it will take a while to find the correct code for the program and good social skills. An average pay for a computer programmer is around £13,000- £43,000. Must have a bachelor degree in computer science, Mathematics or information systems.

4 ICT Teacher You must have good leadership and communication skills. Must have excellent knowledge in ICT. Mentoring and coaching skills to help students. Be able to build up relationships with students and adults. The average salary is around £26,000 Qualifications in IT, Media, Maths, Psychology and Electronics (will help).

5 Software Engineer As a software engineer is called upon when problems are encountered with an application, system or software. As an software engineer you must investigate current applications, hand back feedback and information, testing a new system to check it works, writing new software and operating manuals. Good skills to have are team work, good maths, good communication skills. The average salary £90,000. Degree in computer networking, IT and Maths.

6 Web designer A web designer must have good creativity skills as a business website needs to look formal, or an adventure park website needs colour and vibrancy. Employers will be looking for someone with good computer skills, communication skills as you will have to talk to the people who want a webpage and now exactly what they want. The average salary is £45,000. You will need good qualifications in IT, Interactive Media also Art and Graphics will help but not essential.

7 Network Engineer As a network engineer you must install new software. Install new hardware Fixing network faults. Training new staff You will need to be patient, good at solving problems, good in a team. With higher qualifications the higher your salary e.g. at junior level you will earn about £18,000 - £25,000 as a senior engineer you could be earning £35,000 a year. You will need good Maths, IT and computer science.
