Presentation transcript:

Before Class Begins  Find a group of up to FIVE students to work with for today. Move the desks to sit with your new group.  Have The Secret Life of Bees and your journal with you!

Character Analysis  Once you have your character, you will individually respond to the following questions in your journal (labeled “5/1/2014”).  How would you describe how your character looks physically? Be specific and use examples from the text.  What makes your character significant? What important life events have happened in this character’s life? Use specific quotes.  Carefully pick three adjectives to describe your character. Your group will be assigned a character from The Secret Life of Bees.

Body Biographies  You will be creating a body biography of your character on the large butcher paper provided.  This should not just be a drawing of a person, but the character’s story visually.  Be creative and intentional about every artistic detail you choose to include.  Do NOT write the name of your character on your body biography because your classmates will guess who your character is based on your illustration.  You may use symbols to stand for philosophies, ideologies, and hobbies.  You will present this to the class today.

EXAMPLE :

Homework  Read and annotate chapter 7 of Sue Monk Kidd’s The Secret Life of Bees.
