Contractions Definition: Combining 2 words together using an apostrophe

Examples Do not= ~~don’tCannot=~~can’t Will not= ~~won’t

Possession/Ownership Definition: Showing that someone/something owns something else

Singular examples:  If it’s a singular word that DOES NOT end in s: ADD ‘s ~~Sarah owns a book  Sarah’s book ~~bird owns a wing  bird’s wing ~~ pencil owns an eraser  pencil’s eraser

Singular contd.  If it’s a singular word that DOES end in s: ADD ‘s ~~Chris owns a bike  Chris’s bike ~~bus owns a wheel  bus’s wheel ~~class owns grades  class’s grades

Plural examples  If it’s a plural word that DOES NOT end in s: ADD ‘s ~~women own coats  women’s coats ~~geese own feathers  geese’s feathers ~~people own cars  people’s cars
