WHO WE ARE A&I is a social cooperative ONLUS composed by educators, phsycologists, social assistents and operators, with the aim to study new forms of projectual and gestional interventions in the range of social services’s offer, in public context, private and of the company and of the proposal in formative area. A&I scs ONLUS was born in Milan in 1992 at the Juvenile Criminal Institute “Cesare Beccaria”, where they create the conditions for future projects that over the years have placed the focus on: - Work and training for people at a disadvantage - Interventions for people in criminal execution - Construction of large network among private, public, social and private to develop integrated welfare forms Today A&I is present in Lombardia at the headquarters of Milan, in via Allegranza, 16; in Montichiari (BS) in via San Giovanni 237 and in Emilia Romagna at the headquarters of Piacenza, in via San Marco. A&I e mploys 97 permanent collaborators who including 63 worker-members.

MISSION A&I intends to build the best conditions for social and professional integration of citizens that, for several reasons, enjoy fewer opportunities and unequal access to resources, this mainly through the work of members and a limited share of collaborators. Studies and performs actions of contrast to phenomena of exclusion, through experimental and innovative projects, with the aim of identifying new strategies and methods of opposition to the various forms of exclusion.

MAIN INTERVENTIONS

SOME NUMBERS OF OUR INTERVENTION IN THE PENAL CONTEXT Every year A&I: Take in charge more then 400 people for orientation’s path and work entourage. Realize path of entourage on social insertion for more the 250 people. Execute substain phsicological interventions to more than 100 people. Deliver more than hours of formation to prisoners and penitentiary operators.

Puntoacapo® Service of information, orientation and entourage to social reinsertion of the prisoners in dimission from the jail RECIPIENTS: prisoners residents in Milan in discharge from 3 Milan’s Criminal Institutions DESCRIPTION: The service support the prisoners in dimission from the penal institute of San Vittore, Opera e Bollate in the path of rapprochement to Milan’s territory through individual interviews and group meetings. The project step-in in the support to the solution to the housing problems, facilitate the recovery of the contacts with the family unit, support the beginning of the formative and working projects, the document’s acquisition and orientate for the social-medical services. FUNDED by the City of Milan

Sulla Soglia Psychological support, rehabilitation, connection with social and health services of the territory, construction of individual projects of reintegration after release. RECIPIENTS: offenders residing in Lombardy with psychic discomfort or psychological fragility, coming to the Milan’s Penal Institutions. Multidisciplinary team: psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, family therapists, educators and fine art masters for laboratory activities within the Institute. 2008: opening of the first REHABILITATION DAY CENTRE, for psychiatric patients at national level, inside the prison in Milan-San Vittore’s C.C. 2013: opening of the first REHABILITATION DAY CENTRE in Milano-Opera’s C.R. FUNDED BY DG Salute by Regione Lombardia through Azienda Ospedaliera Fatebenefratelli e Oftalmico; Milan’s Department of Social Affairs and Culture of Healthdel, Foundation Banca del Monte di Lombardia, Foundation Cariplo.

Network’s agents Educational figures who have the task of promoting the link between Institute’s internal network and external reality, with the aim to encourage the involvement of the territory in the process of prisoners’s social reintegration. RECIPIENTS: held at the Milan's San Vittore C.C., at Milan - Bollate’s II C.R. – and at Milan – Opera’s C.R. OBJECTIVES: promote the reintegration of the inmate, Italian and foreign, that upon exiting the prison must rebuild his life by tackling the problem of accommodation, labor, recovery of family role and the building of a support’s territorial network. Raise awareness within the local context to the issues of social reintegration by promoting a more effective process of integration and inclusion after his release. LENDERS: Lombardy Region with monitoring activities carried out by City of Milan’s ASL, Province of Milan 1’s ASL and Province of Milan 2’s ASL.

Social Defense in Court Milan’s Social Garrison inside the Summary Section of Milan’s Court RECIPIENTS: Italians and foreigns subjects who live in the City of Milan, that were intercepted during the hearing to catch/stop validation or during summary trials. DESCRIPTION: inside the Summary Section of Milan’s Court there is and active garrison managed by 2 social workers: operators carry out interviews with people arrested or on trial, and provide a brief report to the judge to evaluate the possibility of non-custodial pre-trial supervision measures or alternatives to detention. The aim is to facilitate access to non-custodial pre-trial supervision measures or alternative measures to detention, with the aim of reducing the inputs to jail and prison sentences. LENDERS: City of Milan

META RECIPIENTS: Young people aged 14 to 21 years, offenders held at the Institute for Juvenile Cesare Beccaria or paid by the Social Service Office for minors (USSM) or Minor Service subject to criminal proceedings (S.M.S.P.P.) or presents in Milan’s Inital Reception Center DESCRIPTION: the project team, along with other key figures (social worker, psychologist, educator, judge, ecc.) meets the boys during the criminal path and accompanies them in the definition of an individual and social educational project. Individual projects may provide short courses ranging from educational or expressive workshops to other more professionalizes. The project also offers an apartment to accommodate the boys who have reached sufficient autonomy to handle a home. LENDERS: City of Milan (Fondi ex L. 285/97)

Macropogetto Milano (MA.MI.) RECIPIENTS: Prisoners of Milan’s Prison San Vittore and italian and foreign entities domiciled in Milan’s ASL department, who are in community based sanction. Specify professional formation and orientation to work reinsertion. Housing reception in appartments of the Associations. Educative and phsicological entourage of familiar mediation and of the conflicts during the development of the alternative measures to the detention ARIA support formation’s action and of awareness to the topic of the alternative measures.
