Presentation transcript:

 Some studies suggest that homeschooling definitely is becoming more popular.

 Fear of school violence contributes to homeschooling becoming so popular.

 Parents increasingly feel like their value systems are at odds with the values being taught in schools

 There are also now many more options for homeschoolers than there were in the past.

 Frequently homeschooling is considered a poor choice by society because children end up less socialized.

 The parents are responsible for their childrens socialization.

 What happens if the parents do not encourage outside activities and have bad social skills themselves?

 Many communities have homeschool groups where families who homeschool meet up with others to enjoy extracurricular activities.

 “98 percent of home schooled children are participants in two or more activities outside of the house, including organized sports, dance, drama, 4-H, public service and pretty much everything else” (Romanowski, “Revisiting Myths” 125).

 “Each state has its own requirements for parents who want to home school” (Butler, par. 5)

 When you homeschool, it means that you are in charge of your child’s learning and education

 Homeschooling means that parents will spend all day with their children.

 Home schooling is growing at about 11% a year, and it's no longer confined to a conservative fringe that never believed in the idea of public education anyway.

 Because home schooling contains so many diverse and changing factors, each family situation is unique.
