Publishing The process of presenting material in printed form.

Desktop Publishing The use of a computer and special software to produce documents.

Combine text and graphics. business cards catalogs newsletters advertising fliers textbooks announcements

Software Page layout programs – software programs that combine text and graphics in a document.

Place text in columns and add headlines. Also add photographs, drawings, charts, and graphs.

Word-processed material is usually saved and imported into the page layout program.

3. What would be a good name for the newsletter?

4. How often will it be published?

5. What will the page size be?

6. How many pages will it have?

7. How will it be reproduced?

Design Guidelines Use only two typefaces – Serif body text – Sans serif headings and headlines

Include white space on every page Print with black ink Select drawings and photographs carefully

Experiment with margin size and column width (at least 2 columns) Maintain a consistent look throughout the document
