Austin’s Mission to Mexico 1. What leadership qualities did Stephen F. Austin show in dealing with Mexico? – He was organized, willing to solve problems, and could communicate well with Mexico 2. Why did Austin go to Mexico City? – To get a new contract for land, and to help create Texas as it’s own state in Mexico 3. Why was Austin arrested? What happens after Austin is released from prison? – Arrested for Treason, wrote a letter saying lets create a government, he had to wait a few months before returning to Texas.
