Welcome to Year 5 Working in Year 5 will be: Miss Donjon Mrs Wastell

Timetable & Routines Everyday they should bring in their reading book and reading record and spelling book. Letters to be given to the teacher at the beginning of the morning. Tuesday –P.E Kit. Wednesday –Homework is due. Musical instruments. Thursday –P.E Kit. Friday – homework is set.

What we are looking to develop in Year 5: Independence. Decision making. Taking on new challenges. Taking pride in their work and present their work to a high standard. Planning skills. Behaviour.

Curriculum On the class webpage you will find the weeks homework. We are focussing a lot on guided reading this year and pupils will be assessed on their ability to evaluate a book in terms of new vocabulary, structure and their ability to ‘read between the lines’. Spelling! Times-tables. By the end of this week, there will be a recommended reading list on the year 5 blog.

Homework Wednesday – RE – the ‘Wednesday Word’. Friday – English – comprehension task, punctuation and grammar task. Maths - online task using ‘My Maths’ programme where an appropriate maths activity related to the weeks work will be allocated to the children. Homework books – same standard of presentation, returned to school by Wednesday – maths book can be used for working out and evaluating their task when doing an online activity.
