5 Wednesday 2 nd March the pupils will take part in the SATRO Business Game Day. SATRO is an educational charity and social enterprise which has been working with young people in Surrey and the South East for over 30 years. SATRO provides real-life experience of all aspects of the working world, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through a diverse and challenging range of programmes.

6 Teams of students run a manufacturing business for the day, taking on roles of CEO, Head of Marketing and Accountant etc. All companies will manufacture products, buy supplies and sell their products at a profit. Enterprise tasks. Please let me know if you are able to help on the day, as we will need additional adults to support the activities.

7  SATs week Monday 9 th May till Thursday 12 th May  There will only be one set of tests for each subject. The tests will include a small number of questions designed to assess the most able pupils. Separate tests, such as the previous level 6 tests, are no longer required. The mental mathematics test has been replaced with an arithmetic test.  Maths – x3 papers, one arithmetic, two mathematical reasoning papers.  Reading – one reading booklet and one answer booklet.  Grammar, Punctuation- one test paper  Spelling – one test of 20 words  Writing – writing teacher assessed and across a range of subjects NOT just Literacy.

8  KS2 national curriculum test outcomes will no longer be reported using levels. Scaled scores will be used instead.Scaled scores  Scaled scores help test results to be reported consistently from one year to the next to demonstrate the same attainment.  For the KS2 tests a scaled score of 100 will always represent the ‘expected standard’.  Details of the exact scores that will show expected attainment have not yet been set. The STA (Standards Testing Agency) is waiting until pupils have sat the tests before setting a national standard.  A pupil’s scaled score will be based on their raw score. The raw score is the total number of marks a pupil receives in a test. The pupil’s raw score will be translated into a scaled score using a conversion table.  For the 2016 KS2 tests STA will publish test results on the NCA tools website on 5 July 2016. Each pupil registered for the tests will receive:  a raw score (the number of raw marks awarded)  a scaled score  and confirmation of whether or not they attained the expected standard  Conversion tables for the 2016 tests will also be published on GOV.UK on 5 July so schools can understand how pupils’ scaled scores are derived from their raw scores.
