Chapter 5: Ancient Egypt Lesson 2: Day 3 Beliefs and Religion

Egyptians had a positive view of life. Land provided the Egyptians most of their needs. For the most part, did not struggle to make a living.

Life After Death Life After Death –Positive outlook on life shaped their religious beliefs. –Believed prosperity followed them into a happy afterlife. Afterlife- Life believed to follow death. Afterlife- Life believed to follow death. –Attitude not shaped by all cultures; see Sumerians.

Beliefs and Religion Many Gods Many Gods –Egyptians worshipped gods that were closely related to the afterlife and nature. Sun Sun River River Plant Life Plant Life Polytheism- belief in many gods or goddesses. Polytheism- belief in many gods or goddesses.

Mummy- person who has been dried so it won’t decay.
