Adding Two and Three Digit Numbers Column Method & Partial Sum Method

Lesson Column Addition 100’s 10’s 1’s 7+4= 11 *Step 1.. Add the 1’s column 100’s 10’s 1’s 7+4= 11 3 5 7 *Step 2.. Add the 10’s column + 6 4 5+6= 11 *Step 3.. Add the 100’s column 3 11 11 3+0=3

3 5 7 + 6 4 *Step 4.. Trade 10 of your ones for ten. 100’s 10’s 1’s 3 5 7 + 6 4 *Step 4.. Trade 10 of your ones for ten. You now have 12 tens, 1 one and 3 hundreds. *Step 5.. Now have 1 one and 12 tens. Trade 10 of your tens and add to your hundreds. So when adding 357+ 64 using the column method, we found the answer is 421. 3 11 11 3 12 1 4 2 1

Lesson Partial Sum Method 60+40 = 100 Step 3.. Add 100+10 =110 66 Step 1.. Add your tens first. + 44 Step 2.. Next, add your ones. 60+40 = 100 Step 3.. Add 100+10 =110 6+4 = 10 The solution to the problem 110 66+44 = 110
