TRiO SSP Funding: US Department of Education $220,000/year for 5 years 1.1 million total funding

TRiO SSP TRIO History: 1960’s-- 3 federal grant programs created Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, & Student Support Services CR has three TRIO projects Today there are 8 TRIO grant programs

TRiO SSP Eligibility Options: 1.First-Generation and/or 2.Low-income (from taxable income) or 3.Documented Disability and… 4. “Academic Need”

TRiO SSP Academic Need: 1.Low HS or College GPA 2.Low English/math placement 3.Failing grades /Academic Probation 4.Out of school for 5 or more years 5.Lack of educational/career goals *At-risk / high-need students* *At-risk / high-need students* (Serve a minimum of 140 participants/year)

TRiO SSP Services/Activities Provided: 1.Intensive individual advising/coaching 2.Educational planning/course selection 3.Info: financial aid /financial literacy 4.Transfer/Career counseling 5.Workshops/Panels: various topics 6.Tutoring 7.Club TRIO

TRiO SSP Staffing: 1.Project Director (full-time) 2.Project Advisor (full-time) 3.Student Services Specialist (half-time) 4.Counselor (part-time) 5.Tutors

How to Apply: Two-sided application (website) Program consultation Recruitment : Referrals, GS classes, DSPS, Dorms Athletes, Veterans, Former UB/TS participants CR Orientations CARE/CalWORKs (not EOPS) Cannot recruit until CR application submitted
