Rejuvenation LO: To reinvent a seaside resort making it attractive to as many groups of visitors as possible From this To this promo video

Ramsgate Ramsgate has been a tourism destination for over 250 years but tourist numbers have fallen steadily over the past 50 years which has lead to high unemployment and shop and business closures. The town want this to stop. At the minute they have a huge area of land on the front that is empty. What should they put there?

What is there already?

How can you improve the town? 1.Invest in existing facilities – smarten buildings up and improve their features 2.Create new facilities – a new hotel and spa? high class sports facilities? New rides for the theme park? 3.Plan new events – a festival? Competitions? Hot air ballooning? 4.Any other ideas?

Your Task – In Rough Books 1.Come up with your plan – make sure you tell people what you’re doing! 2.How are you going to boost tourist numbers in the town? 3.Plan your advertising campaign. Does the scheme need a logo/ leaflet? 4.Organise. If you spot an issue e.g. where to build, use this lesson to find a solution. Don’t forget to say How it will increase visitors How it will increase income How it is sustainable

Homework – due next Friday Create your presentation/advert for rebranding Ramsgate. You need to present it/record it and it to Don’t just read the PowerPoint!!
