Shop Safety Running engines produce carbon monoxide. this is a colorless and odorless gas that is very deadly. Always make sure that an exhaust hose is hooked up to the engine and the exhaust fan is turned on before running any engine indoors.

The proper way to prime an engine is: – Pour or spray a small amount of gasoline in the carburetor or intake – Move the container of gas away from the car. – Stand back from the carburetor or intake. – Start the engine.

Gasoline fumes travel down to the lowest area and spread out. hot water heaters on the basement will ignite the fumes.

Shop Safety Make sure the tool rest on the bench or pedestal grinder is firmly and properly attached and is adjusted correctly (close to the stone of the grinder). If you are grinding on a small piece of metal, use vise grips to hold it firmly so you don’t grind off the ends of your fingers.
