Presentation transcript:

Water as coolant Cooling system of a car engine The specific heat capacity of water is high, the temperature rise is small. The energy absorbed by the water is released into the air by the radiator.

The cooling tower of a large air conditioning system Water is used to carry energy away. The heat exchange process takes place in a cooling tower.

A power station built close to the sea A huge amount of cold water can be obtained for cooling purposes.

Climatic effect

Sea water absorb a large amount of heat with a small change in temperature. Daily temperature variation is smaller in coastal areas than inland areas.

Energy storage Hot water inside the bottle cools down and releases large amount of energy.

Maintain body temperature Our body contains a high proportion of water (70%). Water heats up and cools down very slowly due to its high specific heat capacity.
