My Teaser Trailer Éimear Hart

Inspiration The genre in which I will be creating my movie is action/thriller. I feel that thriller/horror are common genres which go together but that there are fewer movies within the action/thriller genre so I feel by creating a movie like this I will be testing and challenging a less common form of film genre combination. The films which inspired me were mainly; The Bourne Series, Obsessed and Harry Potter (with the character of Lord Voldermort being a major influence. I wanted to take elements from each of these films to create an enticing film trailer which will have my audience wondering what is going on. These films mostly interested me due to their clever use of sinister elements and their ability to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. I hope that my film like the ones above would leave my audience with a shock factor that will have them talking about the film afterwards and want to watch it again and again.

Plot Outline A normal guy, aged 25, working in an office starting his way on the career ladder begins to have these nightmares featuring the same girl every night. He seeks advice but by now he is having these ‘visions’ spontaneously at any time causing the line between dreams and reality to become blurred. In search of the truth he sets out a plan to find this girl and see why she wanting to cause him this pain and fear. But the girl is not a figment of his imagination but also not a sinister character wanting to cause harm. He tracks her down and leads to dramatic conclusions.

Characters The male protagonist who has the dreams. We see a gradual deterioration in this character as the visions continue to haunt him making him become paranoid, tense and a very sinister character. The female damsel who appears in the dreams. Audience are aware that she is not a sinister character of hatred wanting to cause harm as the protagonist believes but instead just a regular 19 year old girl attending her local college. We fear for her safety and well-being as we are aware the protagonist is looking for her.

Setting The main location of my movie would be in the protagonists bedroom where we initially meet him when he is having a dream and this location also evolves in to becoming his ‘lair’ where he plans his capture of the girl in the search for truth to what is happening. This will be created through the use of a table where there will be weapons (knives, guns), rope, maps… etc lying on it as well as these objects being scattered throughout the room as well as a ‘hit board’ wall where there will be pictures of the girl as if he is tracking her every movement. I would also shoot outdoor scenes of the girl walking through town etc which will give the protagonist the opportunity to follow her I will have a scene within my movie of the girl with a number of her friends expressing her concerns of this guy who is “just keeps popping up”, I would have this located in the college, a café or a shop to show the characters true normality in reality but also her vulnerability of being in this public place rather than at home.
