1 Critical Reflection Component 1: Film Task
By: Claire Masta

2 Using/Challenging Conventions
My group and I based some footage used in our film on other well-known movies. After doing our research on movies that consist of the genre “action/thriller” we found: Argo, The Call, Taken, and The Town. In our film, the POV cut of the main character looking in his daughter’s room was based off of the movie Taken. The background score was also based off of Taken.

3 Engaging with the Audience
The film that my group and I created engages with the audience in a variety of different aspects: For example, the music in the opening scene is mysterious and captivates the viewers, building up anticipation/making them wonder what’s going to happen next The plot to the movie is relatable and tends to occur in society whether people are aware or not, so it gives the audience a realistic appeal, conflicting with their emotions Also, the genre of the film is “action/thriller” which tends to appeal to audiences of all ages, but mainly teenagers and young adults

4 Developmental Progress
Throughout this project, my production skills developed in different aspects For example, I became more accustomed to working in a group, making decisions based on other peoples opinions as well as my own, and making time to meet together I also familiarized myself with the editing software, iMovie, on the MacBook laptop I also became more comfortable behind the camera, using new techniques: shot types, angles Overall, the area where I developed the most was keeping up blog posts, and staying on track during the filming process.

5 Integrating Technologies
In this project, my group and I filmed all of our videos with an IPhone 6s We constructed and edited the entire film through iMovie on a MacBook Apple laptop YouTube was also a key source while doing this project, considering it’s where we downloaded our music for the background score of the film and where we streamed both our rough draft and final draft My group also used WordPress, a blogging website, to stay on track with the filming process This is where we detailed our planning process, research, and any changes we made throughout the project.
