Community Service Projects Improve the Quality of Life for those in their Communities and to Serve the Public Interest

Background “Our organizational priority is, and must be membership … without members, there would be no Rotary. If we can achieve so much with the clubs and members we currently have, what could we do if we had more?” John Hewko General Secretary of Rotary International

Why Join Stay Friendship30.0%38.4% Local Impact35.5%36.1% Local Impact = Community Based Service Projects

“Does it have a local impact to the community” Adopting a school brings “value” to the community Working with Refuges brings “value” to the community The food bank activity brings "value" to the community What is a community based service project? Community Service Project = "Does it bring value to the community“

An important part of this is. What do your Club Members believe brings “value” to the community? …….and what does your community believes bring value to them? … not everyone in your club gets excited about the same thing. Not one community based service project feels everyone needs. What are your club members passions? How can you met these needs without over extending the club? A Chance to Respond to the Needs of the Community

Are relevant to the community Serve as a learning experience for Rotarians Met the needs of our Club Member Identify a Rotary club ’ s role in its community Determine how Rotarians can help with the resources at hand Community Service Projects Summary

One way is by working with other clubs facing the same problem. Areas where there are multiple clubs may have a member with a passion for a project that they do not have enough resource to perform. Does it meet the needs of someone in your club? How about a joint project? How do you find out about these type of projects? How about a social with another club and talking about different community based service projects? Success = Community Needs + A Club Members Passion
