The Basics for BI How the data is constructed

In the current version Make it a habit at EVERY Attache site to Create the folders as shown on the left, except AttacheBI now, not Attache Remove any old files in them Put the latest of everything in here This makes it easier for support people to maintain

In the current version Data sits under the AttacheServer/Data folder AttacheServer is not accessible to normal users

Inside the Data folder: Each company has its own folder

Contents of each data folder: Each data has an index file, and a data file

There are many other folders and files, in the AttacheBI folder

Specialty folder - ADI ADI – Attaché Data Interchange Loading transactions enables you to load transactions from another system, using the layouts held in this Specialty folder The task help when you open any of these screens from within Attaché will give you the KFI order Extract Transactions copies transactions to a file, for transfer to another system

Specialty folder - Archive An archive is a full backup of a company data Format of the name is yyyymmddhhmm then the company name Not everyone has permission to do archives You should set up all active companies to automatically archive, in the company options, and all history look up companies to NOT automatically archive

Specialty folder - Desktop This holds the default company start up screen, used when a new company is created In this folder is the default.htm and the menu_icons.png

Specialty folder - Graphics This is where you should store all graphics used in the forms for all companies All graphics must be.bmp in type

Specialty folder - Help This is where all the Attache help information is stored On newer computers, the help files will not work, and you will get a message directing you to the Microsoft website, to download a small application that will enable this computer to use the help files You need to make sure that the Help function works on every computer accessing AttacheBI Windows Help Program (WinHlp32.exe) is now also available for Windows 8 and 10

Specialty folder - Installers This is where the AlexConnect and WorkStation executable are stored

Specialty folder - KFI This folder holds the standard KFI files that you use for all new companies Note that you will need to import these to each company, the do not happen automatically Note the the PNG postcodes can be imported

Specialty folder - PLINK This is used by ClearView and by PowerLink Within the Plink folder is a file called PLHDMSVR.INI which contains pathing details for each company. This can be edited IF you are sure of what you are doing, if you are having ClearView problems

Specialty folders – Print, Report, Screen These are the basic print, screen and reports that are used by every new company that you start up

Specialty folders – Sample Most of these are automatically loaded when you do an upgrade Note that there is a PNGPAY, which at this time has nothing in it

Specialty folders – Template These are possible templates to use There are suggested templates for GLs for various business types

Under AttacheBI, Resources folder, there are company folders. Now lets see what is in each company folder

Within a company folder Desktop stored the background used for this company FAData contains the Fixed Assets data Output is where the program stores data when the Save icon is selected after printing any report to screen PLINK stores the ClearView and PowerLink information required to run this, but not the actual data files PRINT contains all the form layouts specific to this company Reports is where many people save special reports SCREEN contains all the screen layouts specific to this company Users contains data relevant to the various users

Company Users Folder Each person who logs into this company will have a folder created for them Each person will have some, none or all of these files, depending on what they are using within this company The.rwo files are created when the user clicks on F5 to save the report parameters The Shortcuts.SHC is the shortcut set up for this user

Files within a company folder There are other files, ending in LOG, TXT If there are people using this company, there will also be files ending in.USR Any files that start with, or end with,TMP can be safely deleted Any old.USR files can be deleted – they may be left there after a system crash. If someone is genuinely using the folder, you will be unable to delete this file

Specialty files – Monitor file The monitor files are used to update the ClearView/PowerLink databases. If ClearView and / or PowerLink are not being used, turn off this file If this file, or any other file, gets bigger than 2 GIG, your system will corrupt. This is a Windows restriction, not an Attaché restriction

Specialty files – Tracking file The tracking files are used to audit users use of the system The FC will decide which files and tasks he/she will want to watch If this file, or any other file, gets bigger than 2 GIG, your system will corrupt. This is a Windows restriction, not an Attaché restriction

How is all this stuff connected?

So now you know!
