Voicethread A Online Asynchronous Collaborative Tool

What is Voicethread A voicethread is a an online recorded conversation around images, power points, videos, and documents. Let’s see one. What is a Voicethread?

What can you do with Voicethread? 1. Record lectures/presentations Women in Art Community College Example 2. Provide topic background by asking students to comment on several questions or ideas. 3. Student projects/presentations ie. Interviews, vocabulary, opinions, book reviews Self Introduction 4. Create content tutorials 5. Quick Assessments

How to Get Started Get an Account Account Types: Free: Limited to 3 Voicethreads and limited storage space Basic: Limited to 15 Voicethreads, 250 MB, $2.00 a year Pro: Unlimited Voicethreads, 10 GB, $59.95 a year, but for today only……..

How to Make a Voicethread Go to Voicethread.com Sign in with your new username and password

Create Click on Create at the top of the screen.

Upload Select Upload and locate the image, power point, video or document you wish to comment on

Select Select the image you wish to comment on by clicking on that image which will then be surrounded by a yellow border

Comment Click Comment You will then have several choices of how to comment.

Choose Comment Mode You can select microphone, text, webcam, or phone. Select record for now, allow the microphone

Save or Delete After you finish recording your comment, you will be able to preview it and decide to save it or delete it and start over

Share Once you are happy with your comments, it is time to share your voicethread! Click on Share where you will have the option of getting a link to the voicethread or adding contacts by entering addresses

Share Make sure you select the eye and comment bubble under the contact people you are sharing with to ensure that they will be able to view and comment on your voicethread.

Privacy All Voicethreads begin as private with only those you select being able to view them. You can change those options under publishing options where you can also add your voicethread under the Browse feature for all to find and view.

Let’s Make a Voicethread! Now, it’s your turn. Sign in and upload some content to comment on!

How Do I Add Students You can give your students accounts by going into the manage feature and clicking on Add.

Manage Sign in using your same username and password. Select Ohlone College under organization.

Add Students Click on Add Members Fill in the student’s information Be sure to select the Basic account type Click Add

Student Information Student information can be edited by clicking on a particular student’s name under the Overview link. Here, you can also create groups and add students to those groups. This is useful if you have multiple classes you are using Voicethread with.
