Urinary Bladder Cross Section What do you Observe?.

Ureter – Cross Section

Urinary Bladder and Ureters  A hollow muscular organ that rests in the pelvic cavity, posterior to the symphysis pubis.  Size depends on contents.  Ureters enter the bladder on the posteriolateral surface and the urethra exits the bladder inferiorly.  The ureters and urinary bladder are lined with transitional epithelium surrounded by a lamina propria, muscle, and a fibrous serosa.

More...  Histology can range from 4-5 cell layers thick, when the bladder is empty, to 2-3 when full.  The epithelia of the urethra is stratified squamous.  Smooth muscle of bladder forms internal urinary sphincter at the junction of the urethra with the bladder.  External urinary sphincter is skeletal and it drops through the pelvis.
