LINE The elements of art

What is a Line?

In terms of art, a line is a moving dot.

Line can convey movement.

Line can show you where an object ends.

Line can show you the impression of form.

Line quality is the thickness or thinness of a line.

By varying the line quality, an artist can give the impression of form.

Hatching and cross-hatching are ways line can be used to indicate value and form.

A Contour line drawing is a drawing of the outlines of an object.

A Cross- Contour line drawing can show form and value.
