Department of Public Works Project Information Work consists of:  Native plant landscape plantings  Irrigation system – New and modified Plant species selected from LAS Master Plan Work is a component of the Lower Arroyo Seco Habitat Restoration CIP 3

Department of Public Works Design Commission Recommendations Archery Range Natural Barrier, December 8, 2015  Smart Irrigation Controller  Elimination of plantings at entry points to the unofficial path  Removal of one proposed plant species  Placement of boulders and cobbles to emphasize natural appearance 4

Department of Public Works Questions and Comments Recommendation:  Find the project proposed in the agenda report to be categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA);  Find the portion of the project consisting of installation of a natural barrier on the west side of the channel, to separate archery from other park uses, is also within the scope of the City’s February 2, 2015 approval for the Lower Arroyo Archery Range;  Accept the bid dated November 17, 2015, submitted by RECON Environmental, Inc. 5

Department of Public Works Lower Arroyo Seco Master Plan – Westside Trails for Hikers and Other Users  The existing trail on the edge of the southern archery range area will be separated from the Westside Multi-Use Trail and the archery range through the use of natural barriers including Arroyo stones and/or boulders and native materials, such as plantings/vegetation… Design Guidelines, Unique Settings, Archery  Permanent physical barriers as well as a signage program will keep other recreational users of the range separated from targets and shooting lanes and shall be reviewed by the Recreation and Parks Commission and the Design Commission. NOTE: The work is limited to the natural barrier and does not include elements of the sign program. 6
