Carlos Cristóbal Pinto TranSUrban Project  Several Small and Medium-Sized Cities in Europe are considering the introduction of Rapid Transit Systems (Tramway, Light Rail, Guided Busway and Trolleybus, etc.); others have implemented them with success.  Costly investment, complete re-organisation of the urban road network… many difficulties in implementing and operating such systems in these cities.  Additional problems of funding.  The process can be facilitated if the indirect benefits are taken into consideration from the beginning (environmental benefits, urban regeneration, city aesthetics, employment creation, social and economic development, etc.). Carlos Cristóbal Pinto TranSUrban Project  Aim: To analysis the development and operation of Urban Transit Systems (Light Rail Transit, Tramway, Guided Busway and Trolleybus) in small and medium-sized cities, through innovative strategies towards sustainable development and urban regeneration.  Operation supported by the European Union within the framework of INTERREG IIIC Inter-regional Co-operation Programme.  Budget: 1,44 million € (59% of which is funded by the EU).  6 partner cities: Volos (Greece), Nea Ionia Magnesia (Greece), Cambridge (United Kingdom), Livorno (Italy), Valdemoro (Madrid, Spain) and Linz (Austria).
