Most important objectives of the SSO included in the Strategic Plan further strengthening of the role as coordinator of NSS support of the authorised partakers in the NSS by providing trainings in areas of common interest and participation in joint projects cooperation with international institutions continuous dialogue and cooperation with other providers of statistical production cooperation with institutions for scientific research, universities and the business community strengthening of the cooperation with holders of administrative data sets and providers of data

Conclusions Coordination remains to be a challenge in practice Good examples of the function Coordinator of NSS Preparation of the Five-Year Programme for Statistical Surveys Coordination of the international cooperation in the domain of statistics Emphasis on the need of thorough realisation of the role as coordinator Allocated budget of the SSO and human resources Monitoring of implementation of the five-year programme Greater engagement of the other authorized bodies and producers of administrative registers Reducing the response burden of data providers Certain institutions part of the statistical system should put more efforts to provide human resources sustainability in the statistical departments Higher level of awareness of all the partakers of the importance to respond to the requirements of NSS
