What is natural vegetation? Natural Vegetation refers to plants that grow without human interference for years … A regions vegetation is determined by its climate (temperature, sunlight and precipitation) and relief (soil and land features). Plants must have moisture and heat for survival. The relative amounts affect what type of plats grow. Also termed as the Virgin Vegetation 2

Flora ….. It includes the plant community in the natural vegetation at a particular region and period listed by species and considered as a group. Indian Flora is the 10 th in World and 4 th in Asia with plant species 6% of world’s total ie flowering plants in India Non–flowering plants like ferns, algae and fungi also found. Indian Flora varies from those found in the Tropics to the one in Arctic due to the varied temperature, rainfall and relief. 3

Fauna ….. It includes the animal species within the natural vegetation in an area and given time as a group. India is rich in varying fauna species of animals are found in India Interaction between Flora and Fauna balances the ecosystem 4

Conclusion Flora and fauna are the treasures of nature. Human habitation and increasing urbanization with industrialization have started depleting the natural vegetation Many of the flora and fauna which were abundant have now become endangered and even extinct. Its We who should take the responsibility to protect the nature So, friends We do remind you “Every time we lose a species we break a life chain which has evolved over 3.5 billion years.” 5
