Question 1: Summarising (4 Marks) One Direction met/formed a group in England/UK Their first record went straight to No. 1 in USA They are the most recent type of boy band They entered The X Factor separately X Factor persuaded them to join up and make a band They did not win X Factor Despite not winning, they were give a recording contract Their fame has spread through the internet.

Question 2: Similarities and Differences (3 Marks) Similarity: Both bands had incredible and fast record sales Differences: 1) One Direction had the internet to help them to achieve their rapid success. 2) The Beatles were a group you could look up to /respect

Question 3:Link Question!!! (2) Marks 1.“The Internet” 2.Links back to the idea that …. 3.“change” 4.Links forward to …..

Question 5: Analysis Question! (“Quote” + Comment/Effect) Word Choice “prepackaged” - suggests something made quickly: is fake or substandard. “(can sing quite) ably” – the word ably suggests skill or competence “(Crutch of) authenticity” – the word “authenticity” suggests genuine talent, ability, skill. (Imagery: a crutch is something you can lean on – something that will support you … in this case, their genuine or authentic talent will support them.
