Embedded Assessment 1 UNIT 5

ASSIGNMENT  multimedia presentation that presents a SOLUTION to an environmental conflict.  PowerPoint  Prezi  Video  Presentation should be 6 minutes.  Include sound, images, graphics  Include types of appeals to use (ethos, logos, pathos).

ASSIGNMENT (CONT.)  EVERYONE must present.  EVERYONE is to help his or her team and be a productive member.

INTRODUCTION  Have an effective attention getter (question, fact, story, joke).  Have a clear thesis statement What position are you taking on the issue?  What are the main points you will be covering in your presentation?

BODY  Educate us about your environmental issue. What is it?  Why is this issue a major concern?  What can we do to fix it? (Present your solution)  Why should we care to fix it? Support your claims :  Use facts and statistics  Use concessions and refutations  Use ethos, logos, pathos  Cite your sources.

CONCLUSION  Briefly re-cover your main points.  Make one last appeal to emotions (pathos).  Make your audience WANT to help.  Call to action.  What does your audience need to do right now? (i.e. sign a petition, join your organization, increase awareness, conserve energy, donate money, etc.)
