TASK 3.3 Task 3.1: Development of AR-based maintenance platform (M7-M27) Task leader: POLITO Partners involved: WIRES and TEKS Objective of this task is the design and the development of AR-based tools and a remote assistance platform able to:  efficiently support maintenance and repair procedures;  design and develop a remote assistant platform;  support virtual placement of stone cutting machines. Augmented reality-based solutions may help to reduce intervention times and errors, thus allowing a more efficient maintenance and repair phase.

Task 3.3: AR-based maintenance procedures This task is aimed to allow the operator to see some information related to the specific procedures Standard machines’ technical manuals will be replaced by multimedia supports: – Animated and interactive 3D videos will guide operators step by step Both hand-held devices and see-through glasses will be considered Vocal and (multi) touch interfaces will be investigated, thus implementing innovative forms of Human-Machine Interaction (HMI)

Task 3.3: remote assistance platform Design and implementation of a platform able to provide operators with useful tools to efficiently interact with the remote headquarter. Maintenance procedures can be dynamically set at the headquarter. Problems related to the quality of service in unstable bandwidth conditions will be investigated in order to provide an efficient platform able to maximize the user quality of the experience.

Task 3.3: stone cutting machine placement Using AR technologies to provide a real-time visualization of cutting machine placement and layout. Thanks to the possibility to reproduce the 3D image of the cutting machine in real dimension and to move it, positioning the structure in the more convenient place. Marker-based and marker-less techniques will be investigated. These techniques could be exploited for marketing and dissemination activities.

Task 3.3: cooperation with partners An active cooperation with partners (TEKS and WIRES) is necessary (basically during WP1) to: – Gather users requirements – Identify machines and procedures to be supported by the AR platform – Define guidelines to the implementation of AR-based tools Activities more specifically related to T3.3 need: – 3D CAD models of machines – User manuals for maintenance and repair – Support and feedback for preliminary tests
