Presentation transcript:

Dear Parents, I hope you all have a wonderful week! Respectfully, Fallon Jones This week we are learning about… MATH- Place value- The students are composing numbers by using pictures. We are counting by 10’s to be more efficient and accurate. The students are composing and decomposing numbers. Example: If I give a student an amount of objects they will compose(build) the number by counting by 10’s and then combine the 10’s and 1’s to compose a number. If I give the students a number such as 54 they will tell me how many 10’s and 1’s are in the number to decompose (break apart). We will continue to spiral problem solving and telling time to the hour and half hour. Language Arts- We are working on non-fiction text features. Our high frequency words this week are: now, how, leg, ask. We are also working on ‘ow,ou’ words. In Writing we are learning about punctuation and capitalization. Science/Social Studies- We are learning about goods and services. Important Dates: January 21 st – Family Science Night 6-7 February 12 th - Class Valentine’s Party 1:00 March 14 th -18 th - Spring Break Week of: January 19 th – January 22 nd Mrs. Jones’s Contact Information: Phone: Conference Time: 12:00-12:50 Reminder: If your child is absent please don’t forget to send a note within 72 hours of your child returning to school for the office’s records.
