1 3rd Grade Classroom News March 29, 2019 Dates to Remember Tidbits
Miss Howell’s Class Dates to Remember Growth Mindset March 30st-31st Fine Arts Festival at BPHS April 4th Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night pm April 12th Early 1:10 April 12st Report Cards Go Home April 15th-19th SPRING BREAK! “One has to remember that every failure is a stepping stone to something better.” -Colonel Sanders Tidbits Our students are working hard to learn from mistakes both in their academics and in their behaviors. We are practicing how to be our best selves every day! Our Learning Math – Multiplication Our students have been working hard mastering multiplication skills! We have worked on many different strategies for solving these math facts – repeated addition, quick pics, using a number line, skip counting, and creating arrays. Our students are now spending more time solving these multiplication facts in word problems. Language Arts – Drawing Conclusions, Making Connections, and Sequencing In reading, we have been working on using evidence found in our text to help draw conclusions. Students have learned that sometimes the author doesn’t always tell us everything that we need to know. We have to use evidence from the text to help us draw a conclusion. We’ve also been working on making connections to ourselves, a text, or the world while reading, as well as figuring out a sequence of events in the text. We will be having a parent night for SOLs after spring break. Be on the lookout for more information to come home in the next week or two! Our Learning Thank you for all of your help with homework! Students have been taking responsibility for anything not completed, but still excited when they tell me that their mom or dad watched them solve their math problem  Practicing at Home Continue reading every night! Ask your child about their book and encourage them to take AR tests every time a book is completed! Please have your child practice telling time to the nearest minute and counting money up to $5.00. Please work to help your child with multiplication facts for 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s.
