Presentation transcript:

The music player has been around for a very long time. There have been many changes to it and some changes allow music players to do so much more then just play music. Also the music player has not just changed but the music did too to fit the music player.

The music player’s different modifications show human ingenuity. Humans since the beginning of time has wanted to know how stuff works

The first music player was created by Thomas Edison in The name of the devise was the phonograph and it was the first devise to successfully play and record sounds. The background is a picture of the phonograph

The gramophone was invented by Emile Berliner in The modifications done to the phonograph were taking away the cylinder and using records. Records were first made out of glass, then zinc, the finally plastic. The background picture is a picture of the gramophone.

Records have been around since the late 1900’s. They were made first out of glass, then zinc and finally plastic. The glass ones did not play that well and the zinc ones broke too easily. So they made plastic which played well and did not break so easily.

The Victrola Model Record player was created in 1906 by RCA Victor. The Victrola model was a very new improvement because the turn table speed could be adjusted for the different speeds new were records were being produced. Columbia Records produced the first double- sided record 2 years after the Victrola Model was created.

LP stands for Long Playing record. LP’s were first made in 1948, they were also called and “album”. It was first released by Columbia Records and in 1955 the Recording Industry of America was formed.

In 1962 the Multi-track recorder was created by a guitarist name Les Paul. Artists such as the Beastie Boys and the Beatles started recording with them extensively. After that all music was recorded that way.

In 1963, Phillips created the first cassette and cassette player. For many years the cassette tape was the most popular music devise. Then in the 70’s, it was modified to allow people to record their own songs and conversations on cassette. This was the first devise that allowed people to listen to music on the go. That is why the cassette player came into being.

Compact CD’s were first introduced to Japan in The first CD made was Billy Joel’s “52 nd Street”. A year later, CD’s were introduced to the US. It only took 3 years for CD’s to take over LP’s in the music recording industry. In 1999 recordable CD’s were available to the public.

In 2000, Napster was created and was the first to allow people to easily share songs and other files with each other. The new program led to the sale CD’s beginning to drop. Copyright accusations were accumulating by many record companies and in 2001, by court order, Napster was forced to shut down.

In October of 2001, Apple came out with the first IPod. Since 2001, Apple has created 14 IPods with all types of capabilities. Apple has not stopped with their IPod possibilities. There has been the IPod classic, Nano, video, touch and the Ipad, which recently was introduced to the Apple family. Apple also has a range of computers and has revolutionized music layers and computers as we know it.

In 2003, Apple came introduced iTunes to the music world. With iTunes, music lovers could download music, organized music and pictures, buy movies. iTunes is a F.Y.I. store but on the computer.
